was sktools ever compatible with Axim x5 Windows CE?
I would love to get a copy if it was.

Most of the sktools are written against windows CE target and will run on PocketPC, Windows Mobile and Windows CE devices. The minor OS base should be Windows CE .Net 4.x, I assume. But for clarity please ask at sktools website.

    There is always an alternative

  3. I’m really loving the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility issues? A small number of my blog visitors have complained about my website not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any ideas to help fix this problem?

The theme on my site is called “Fluid Blue”. I never heard or have seen compatibility issues with that. But who knows?
I am sorry, but I cannot help with your question.

    Hi, Josef

I’m starting a development for a windows CE device and I need an essencial tool that I can’t find. I hoped it wold be in your list, but sadly, it’s not… 🙁

I’m talking about an windows ce 6.5 emulator. I’m sure I’m not the only one having this problem the same problem – as I’ve spent hours trying to find one, and since you have a lot of experience with Windows CE programmin I thought you could help me. Thanks in advance.

    Hello mdegayon

AFAIK there is no “Windows CE 6.5”. Either you are looking for “Windows CE 6” or “Windows Mobile 6.5” aka “Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5”.

For Windows CE 6 you need to download the Windows CE 6 Platform builder trial version and you get a x86 based Windows CE 6 emulator. But as far as I can see, this is no longer available (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsembedded/default.aspx and see http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b9177938-3222-4915-a317-fb4a7e6420d7/how-to-download-windows-embedded-ce-60-platform-builder-), MS is now at Windows Embedded Compact 2013.
Even if you get a copy of WinCE 6 Platform builder (ie if you have a MSDN subscription), if you want to develop for a real device, you need the platform image for the device (supplied by the OEM).

If you are looking for Windows ‘Embedded Handheld’/’Mobile’ 6.5, you just have to download the WM 6.5 DTK: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17284. It comes with everything needed to compile for WEH65 and Emulator Images (with ARM processor).

    regards

    Josef

    Hi, Josef

Thanks for your help, you’re right about SO’s names. In fact, I was mixing up Windows CE 6 with MEH 6.5 because the device I’m going to work with can use both. I’m afraid the platform image for the device (a Honeywell’s Dolphin 6500) isn’t supplied by the OEM or, at least, I can’t find it. I guess I’ll need the real thing to test my sw.

Thanks again! I’ll buy you a beer next time you’re in Paris, you’ve saved me a lot of time !
